Narrator: The delvers have crept through the sparse woods east of town, paralleling an overgrown road.
Narrator: The remains of some ruined farmhouses sit a hundred or more yards ahead of them. Strange, mishappen creatures lurch amongst the ruins.
GM: You guys are still not sure what those things are.
Ghazeb: "Ghazeb does not like this one little bit. Ghazeb is afraid Thasos could get in over his head and get killed."
** Ghazeb pats Thasos on the back. **
Marik: "Yeah, but in there's the big payoff for this trip."
Minnizig: "Hmm?"
** Marik points at Beltarne. "Something about priests and gold. Lots of gold." **
** Minnizig squints at Beltarne. **
Minnizig: "He turns to gold if we drop him in there or something?"
Ghazeb: "Ghazeb like gold, Ghazeb likes gold a great deal."
** Thasos has a dubious look on his face. **
Wolfgang: "how does this town get us gold again?"
Beltarne: "A pound of gold for the forge key"
Beltarne: "please don't be dropping me into anything"
Wolfgang: "OK, lets go check it out!"
Minnizig: "That sounds. Remarkably good."
Wolfgang: "What does the forge key look like?"
Beltarne: "Left here by the last master smith of vinnelbran... so maybe if we can find a smithy?"
Beltarne: "No idea, grab every key you see"
Beltarne: "Hopefully it's somewhat recognizable"
Minnizig: "..."
Minnizig: "Who has the key we found with the harpies?"
** Marik raises a hand. **
Minnizig: "Oh good."
Marik: "Think it's the forge key?"
Beltarne: "'HtQ' doesn't sound forge-y at all to me"
Minnizig: "I have no idea. But for a pound of gold, I don't want to miss it at all."
Wolfgang: "I was hoping it'd fit the cave door, think it's the right size?"
Beltarne: "We get a quarter pound just for poking around, but obviously a pound is better."
GM: The key you have is brass, and the script is a human style, not dwarven.
Beltarne: "So, onward to treasure and glory!"
Minnizig: Just checking :D
Wolfgang: "Well, how shall we being poking? I can fly over, or we can try sneaking up a bit closer."
Ghazeb: "Ghazeb likes the fly over and get a look plan."
Ghazeb: 'We could move up some while you do."
Wolfgang: "OK"
** Wolfgang takes off and gets well above rock throwing range and heads to the town **
Beltarne: "Lets check the buildings by the water first"
** Marik melts into the forest and starts sneaking up on the town. **
GM: Alright. Is Wolfgang trying to be stealthy?
Minnizig: ... is that like sneaking up on a gazebo?
** Wolfgang heads to the water side first **
Wolfgang: sure!
Ghazeb: Stealth (15) [3d6.skill(15,0)] => [2,3,6] = 11 vs (15) or less Success! by 4

Wolfgang: DX (14) [3d6.skill(14,-5)] => [4,4,2] = 10 vs (9) or less Failure! by 1

Minnizig: Stealth (13) [3d6.skill(13,0)] => [1,5,6] = 12 vs (13) or less Success! by 1

Wolfgang: and apparently I fail at being quiet too
Marik: Stealth: [3d6.skill(19,0)] => [6,3,6] = 15 vs (19) or less Success! by 4
Wolfgang: maybe I'm a good distraction for the ground people!
GM: Well, there's lot of potential observers, y'know.
Beltarne: I
GM: Groundlings can move up to 50 yards to the west
Beltarne: I'm sneaky!
Minnizig: I've just dumped myself IN a treetrunk apparently.
GM: Wolfgang sees dozens of those strange, mishappen figures moving around town in no pattern he can discern.
Minnizig: I'll need some help from the GM escaping.
Wolfgang: I'll look for something forgelike, and a better look at the beasties
** Thasos keeps close to Ghazeb, so he won't steal all the kills. **
GM: They seem to be congregating near the center of town.
Wolfgang: Vision (13) [3d6.skill(13,0)] => [1,5,6] = 12 vs (13) or less Success! by 1
GM: Well, more than anywhere else.
GM: All the buildings look equally ruined to you and roughly the same, really.
Ghazeb: "could we "pull" them away a few at a time?"
GM: Some are round, some are square. A lot have completely collapsed.
Wolfgang: any have more brick/stonework for their chimney?
Minnizig: "I have no idea if zombie golem demons are that smart. Or possibly that stupid."
GM: There's several ruined chimneys. Several larger than others.
Beltarne: "I say we cut south and start at the bottom of the town."
Wolfgang: hmm, are the mishappen things clothed at all?
GM: The 4 gray-brown square buildings are the most likely candidates.
Ghazeb: We need some sort of Greek fire
Beltarne: "Push north to cover the whole area"
GM: Marik thought that their skin/surface was shaped to look like clothing, but that they weren't actually clothing.
GM: They keep moving in and out of the ruined buildings.
Wolfgang: OK, unlikely to be carrying a key in their pockets then
Wolfgang: how destroyed are the squarish buildings? roof still intact?
Beltarne: "Supposedly the villagers were turned into zombies by demons that overran the town
Beltarne: "Perhaps the villagers were actually possessed."
GM: Some of them have partial roofs.
Ghazeb: "Ghazeb hates it when that happens."
GM: Wolfgang has returned from his flyover.
Minnizig: "I'm still not clear on why demons would possess (or build replacements) villagers in the middle of freeking nowhere, and then leave them to.. wander around vaguely."
Ghazeb: "What did you see Wolfgang?"
Beltarne: "Perhaps they're acting out their normal lives"
** Thasos just shrugs. **
Ghazeb: "Clearly so adventures could come kill them."
Wolfgang: "Lots of run down buildings, none are obviously the forge, those things are still just milling about for the most part"
Beltarne: "If their skin looks like clothes, perhaps the villagers have some memory of what they once were, and are attempting to re-enact those memories"
Wolfgang: "except those over there"
Marik: "Not any longer. Some of them are following you now."
Ghazeb: "Did they see you? Did they react to you?"
Beltarne: "Grand"
Beltarne: "I see at least 7 incoming"
Wolfgang: did they only come over after I landed?
Beltarne: How fast are they moving, Mark?
GM: They're not moving that fast, so they likely were following you for a bit.
GM: Others, more distant, are also drifting this way.
Minnizig: Local mana conditions?
GM: [3d6] => [5,6,4] = (15)
** Thasos readies his meteor hammer and takes a defensive posture. **
Ghazeb: "Looks like we can out run them if Thasos gets in over his head."
GM: Low mana, Minnizig.
Minnizig: Bleh. They probably ignore mind control anyways.
Wolfgang: "Maybe, unless they can run too"
Ghazeb: "Thats just crazy talk."
Wolfgang: "lets hit the ones to the south before they surround us
Ghazeb: "Works for Ghazeb."
** Thasos nods. **
GM: So are we starting a fight?
GM: Great!
Ghazeb: Thats just how we roll.

Thasos: grabbed by one
Thasos: do i get a free entangle on the one i parried?
GM: Yes, you can totally entangle him on your next turn.
GM: Grabbed by 57, 58.
Thasos: i dodged, parried, failed parry
GM: and the 4th got a critical success.
Beltarne: And one got a crit
Thasos: ah, i only saw 3 grabs
Thasos: no defense on crit grab?
Beltarne: That is correct, suh!
Thasos: fairy nuff
GM: That looks like that ends it.
1) YOUR TURN NOW:: [29] Ghazeb (on deck: [28] Thasos)
Ghazeb: Turn and swing for the neck of 71 Da -1-2
Ghazeb: Scimitar * swing [3d6.skill(22,-7)] => [5,1,2] = 8 vs (15) or less Success! by 7
GM: He all-out attacked, roll damage.

Ghazeb: Can I step now?
GM: Yes.
Ghazeb: ###
2) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Thasos (on deck: [28] Marik)
Thasos: I'm not going to entangle
Thasos: have they grabbed my arms, or am i still free to swing my weapon?
GM: They have just grabbed your torso. -4 to all DX rolls.
Thasos: i forget - can i attack as normal while grabbed?
GM: You're at -4 to all DX related rolls, and in close combat with 4 guys.
Thasos: hrm
Thasos: okay, I'm going to try breaking free then
GM: Roll ST
Thasos: ST (13) [3d6.skill(13,0)] => [6,3,2] = 11 vs (13) or less Success! by 2
Wolfgang: or judo/wrestling
Murkmock: 57, 58 resist! [3d6.skill(15,5+2)] => [2,3,6] = 11 vs (22) or less Success! by 11 and [3d6.skill(15,5+2)] => [3,6,4] = 13 vs (22) or less Success! by 9
Thasos: crud, now they tell me
GM: They're stronger and quite skilled at Wrestling.
GM: What is your Judo?
Thasos: indeed
Thasos: 15
Thasos: and i can't power blow
GM: Okay, win by 4 versus win by 11 and 9.
GM: You could have Power Blow at a penalty.
Thasos: no chi remember?
Thasos: i keep failing meditation :P
GM: Oh, well. That.
GM: You fail to break free.
3) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Marik (on deck: [25] Beltarne)
Marik: "Potions, right!" Grabs a potion.
4) YOUR TURN NOW:: [25] Beltarne (on deck: [24] Wolfgang)
Beltarne: Step and Concentrate for Turning.
Beltarne: "Get off me, you spawn of hell, in the NAME OF TYR!"
GM: Roll Will+PI.
Beltarne: Will (14) [3d6.skill(14,+4+2)] => [6,2,1] = 9 vs (20) or less Success! by 11

6) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Minnizig (on deck: [20] Things)
Minnizig: scootch closer to Beltarne by a step, draw a Fire potion from my harness! Whatever a Fire potion is.
GM: okay.
7) YOUR TURN NOW:: [20] Things (on deck: [29] Ghazeb)
Murkmock: Tumble back and away, retreating from Beltarne.
Beltarne: ((This is why I love being a cleric. This is what I freaking live for))
Minnizig: (( it's totally awesome :D ))
Beltarne: ((You can't do it all the time, and it only works on some enemies, but the ones it works on, it WORKS on.)
Wolfgang: ((I agree, rock on!))
Murkmock: Murkmocks 57, 58 are taking Thasos with him if they can. [3d6.skill(15,2)] => [6,3,2] = 11 vs (17) or less Success! by 6
and [3d6.skill(15,2)] => [6,4,1] = 11 vs (17) or less Success! by 6
GM: Thasos can resist with ST or DX.
GM: Or Judo.
Thasos: DX (16) [3d6.skill(16,0)] => [1,6,2] = 9 vs (16) or less Success! by 7
Beltarne: ((Haha! Take that spawns of hell!))
GM: Unfortunately, he resists their attempt to move him and they step away, releasing him.
Thasos: Unfortunately?
Thasos: -.-
Minnizig: GM has a known bias.
Beltarne: ((For team monster))
GM: Assuming that Beltarne keeps concentrating, the creatures stay 11 yards away from him and you guys can move at a yard per second as you investigate the town.
Minnizig: That's awesome.
Wolfgang: nice!
** Beltarne steps slowly towards Ghazeb, frowning in concentration as a fiery bluish light flares from the holy symbol on his shield **
GM: You'll be surrounded by a circle of strange mud creatures.
Minnizig: I suppose I shouldn't sing a concentrating song to help him concentrate :D
Ghazeb: Can we stay just out of their rang and kill them.
Wolfgang: Can I recover my bill? that will help with the stand at the edge and wack them strat
Minnizig: I'd like my backpack back.
Beltarne: If they're that dumb, we should be able to kill them. But there's a good chance they'll be trying to pull us out of the circle if we get close enough to engage.
Minnizig: And Marik.
Thasos: i can stay between beltarne and them, and whack two at a time safely
GM: Uhm. If you attack them, they can respond.
Wolfgang: yah, that would be nice of us
GM: I think.
Beltarne: I don't mind walking around being awesome, but I don't really get to contribute anything else. Up to you
GM: That makes sense to me.
GM: actually, that's not true.
GM: They'll retreat if you guys start attacking them from within the turning circle, though.
Wolfgang: lets just recover our stuff plus Marik and look at the town
GM: They're not that suicidal.
GM: Sure, you can totally do that.
Marik: "Well."
Ghazeb: "Works for Ghazeb."
Minnizig: "If I can get my stuff back, that looks good to me :D
** Ghazeb follows Beltarne. **
Ghazeb: ((I need to afk a min.))
** Beltarne begins chanting suplications to Tyr as he moves steadily to recover equipment. **
Wolfgang: "I bet they just come back after a while anyhow, they're made of dirt, not gonna run out of that."
** Thasos moves along with Beltarne, staying just close enough to the creatures to hit them at max range with his meteor hammer. **
GM: After a few attacks, the creatures retreat out of Thasos' range, staying about 16 yards away from Thasos.
GM: I mean, Beltarne.
Thasos: Resist Overconfidence (12-) [3d6.skill(12,0)] => [4,3,3] = 10 vs (12) or less Success! by 2
Wolfgang: "Lets go towards the squarish buildings first."
** Thasos grudgingly stays at his set range. **
GM: I mean, if you want to step outside the circle and attack someone, go for it.
Beltarne: Mark, shall I just move my token about and you tell me what we see wherever I go?
GM: I can simplify.
** Wolfgang stays within the circle near Beltarne **
Minnizig: Or should we just handle it narratively?
GM: It's a ruined town.
Thasos: well, he does... but he doesn't think it's a good idea :D
GM: It's all ruined. Looks like it was attacked by magic and large beasts.
GM: Nothing seems to be alive in the town.
Minnizig: And populated with the creepy younger brothers of the Druid's corruption earth golem thing.
Beltarne: ((I'm alive!))
Beltarne: ((Sorry, I'll shut up))
GM: Each hour you spend searching, people who are not Beltarne can make Search rolls.
GM: You can make a total of 30 rolls in town.
Minnizig: As a group?
Minnizig: Or individually?
GM: As a group. Rolls by people who aren't actually any good at searching count against the total.
Minnizig: As a group that's 6 hrs including Marik.
Wolfgang: Vision (13) [3d6.skill(13,-5)] => [6,1,2] = 9 vs (8) or less Failure! by 1
Minnizig: I am not good at Searching. Scrounging, I am.
GM: DUDE HOLD ON
Ghazeb: Ghazeb will help, he has a 10 skill
Wolfgang: oh, doh
GM: Let me explain, then you guys decide what you want to do.
GM: Each hour that you search, Beltarne has to make a Will+PI roll, at -2 cumulative per hour.
GM: Failure, the Turning fails and you get mobbed by a lot of weird critters.
GM: As a note, you find better stuff if you succeed on the search rolls, so failed rolls cost you loot.
GM: But spending too much time there could be bad.
GM: Decide what you want to do - you guys can figure out the general details of it.
Beltarne: And I can't just throw it back up once I falter?
GM: No.
Wolfgang: ((seems like people that are not good a searching should do it anyhow since we don't want to stay here too long))
Thasos: yes
GM: I'm willing to grant that holding your Will against the forces of darkness is not immediately fatiguing, but holding it for hours is draining.
Thasos: do the max amount of searching in the least time
Wolfgang: does the -2 start at the first check or the 2nd?
Beltarne: Well, my Will + PI is 18. I assume we get the first hour free.
GM: 1st.
GM: Sure, 1st hour doesn't require a roll.
Wolfgang: so the first is a 16, so we can get 2 hours at least
Wolfgang: you have luck?
Beltarne: Assuming I don't crit fail.
Wolfgang: heh
GM: You guys also think that if you head out of town you may be able to lose these things in the woods and then sneak back in.
Wolfgang: true
GM: But that would require Stealth rolls and stuff.
Beltarne: No I don't but I believe Minnizig does.
GM: Marik thinks that is a better plan.
Thasos: i trust beltarne's will more than his stealth
Minnizig: I have luck, I don't have Search. I do have Stealth, and I'm small!
Wolfgang: can't help your roll
Beltarne: and you can use luck on anything that would affect you, IIRC.
Minnizig: Yes, but that's directly affect.
Minnizig: If the boulder lands on me, yeah.
GM: Nope, only on your own rolls. "Lucky Lou can't roll to let Strong Sam kick the door down."
Minnizig: If you fall over the guard dog, not so much, even if it's a ten headed fire breathing hell hound that eats me.
Beltarne: Okay, well, then, we have at least an hour, probably two, and 4 would be pushing it.
Minnizig: Using it on you is an expensive enhancement :D
Minnizig: So sounds like we should all be searching then, cuz it's six hours if we're all searching.
Beltarne: Right.
Wolfgang: OK
Thasos: let's just all search for 2
Beltarne: And of course. I have search but can't use it :-)
Wolfgang: can we do two hours of search and be gone before a 3rd roll?
Wolfgang: er, 2nd
GM: Yes.
GM: So the plan is to search for 2 hours and head out, and everyone searches?
Minnizig: Yep.
Wolfgang: could I assist on other searcher by moving heavy stuff instead of making search rolls?
Wolfgang: one or more*
Beltarne: I guess. Anyone wanna stick around for three hours? Only a 25% chance of horrible death!
Wolfgang: not really
Beltarne: And think of the loot!
Ghazeb: will see at the end of 2
Beltarne: Won't somebody please think of the loot!
Ghazeb: I am
Thasos: i don't think a 3rd hour will improve our search more than our chance of death
Beltarne: Sorry. okay, lets do two hours, and see whether we're ready to leave then
GM: Wolfgang: sure, everyone gets +1 if you make a ST check. Anyone else can try that, too.
Wolfgang: sweet
Beltarne: Will you be rolling for Marik, Mark?
Minnizig: my STR is better than my Search.
Wolfgang: we can try coming back after Beltarne rests and recovers too, assuming we fine anything at all
Minnizig: My Scrounging is trained up too, hmmm.
Thasos: yeah, I'll add my strength too
GM: I'll roll for Marik.
Wolfgang: if you have search, do that
Beltarne: I think this is a one chance thing, we don't get to come back.
Wolfgang: my search is a 5 (+3 for vision, maybe) so it's hopeless
GM: You can totally come back. I even said you go sneak off into the woods and sneak back in.
Beltarne: Oh, my bad
Wolfgang: can he turn later, like the next day?
GM: Yes, but he needs to make a new Will+PI roll each time.
Wolfgang: cool
Beltarne: So who is making ST checks and who is searching?
Minnizig: Can I roll Area Knowledge to remember where the forge was?
Wolfgang: who isn't trained in search besides me?
Minnizig: by any chance?
GM: What forge?
Minnizig: This forge wot we need the key for?
Minnizig: With the pound of the gold and the hey hey hey froidlaven?
GM: Oh, Vinnelbrahn.
Minnizig: I don't know anything about this. I'm trying to get some information here :D
Beltarne: Isn't that a ruined dwarven citadel?
Minnizig: I have no idea.
GM: You're not sure where it is. Somewhere in the mountains, some dwarven citadel.
Beltarne: Thought I read that somewhere on the Wiki
Minnizig: Oh. Not here.
Wolfgang: I think we may have been jumping from smith's key to forge
Minnizig: Uh. Hm. So WHY was the forge key here?
Wolfgang: er, forge key
Beltarne: I'm busy concentrating, sorry
Minnizig: Fair enough.
Beltarne: So ST and Search checks?
GM: Okay, 1st hour. People rolling ST, roll ST.
Minnizig: I'm guessing I can't "Scrounge" up the key, so - is my 50/50 odds +1 to Marik and other peoples Searches worth more than Luck on a Search check at 8?
Beltarne: One of each
Minnizig: I'd do that. Good idea.
Minnizig: ST (11) [3d6.skill(11,0)] => [5,1,5] = 11 vs (11) or less Success! by 0
Wolfgang: well, you'd be at 10 if Thasos and I do ST
Wolfgang: anyhow, ST for me for sure
Wolfgang: ST (16) [3d6.skill(16,0)] => [5,3,5] = 13 vs (16) or less Success! by 3
Thasos: ST (13) [3d6.skill(13,0)] => [5,2,3] = 10 vs (13) or less Success! by 3
Marik: Search! [3d6.skill(13,3)] => [4,3,3] = 10 vs (16) or less Success! by 6
Ghazeb: Search (10) [3d6.skill(10,0)] => [5,2,6] = 13 vs (10) or less Failure! by 3
Minnizig: +3 for us!
Ghazeb: Search (10) [3d6.skill(10,0)] => [5,4,5] = 14 vs (10) or less Failure! by 4
Ghazeb: Search (10) [3d6.skill(10,0)] => [1,1,4] = 6 vs (10) or less Success! by 4
Ghazeb: That does not include + from the st rolls
GM: Ghazeb finds some crockery worth $100, weighs 15 lbs.
Minnizig: he succeeded by 7 with the bonus.
** Ghazeb throws the frying pan at a **
GM: Oh, that was luck! My bad!
Ghazeb: yeah
GM: Ghazeb finds some nice bronze cookware worth $700, weighing 15 lbs.
GM: Marik finds an ornamental table, worth $600 and weighing 20 lbs.
Minnizig: That's much better :D
** Ghazeb puts it in his pack **
Minnizig: I'm Searching next round. I'm also for pushing it to two Beltarne concentration rolls (3 hours)
Wolfgang: well, let's see if he makes one!
Marik: "Should we keep this?"
Beltarne: First roll for me
Beltarne: Will (14) [3d6.skill(14,4)] => [1,3,2] = 6 vs (18) or less Critical Success! by 12 [B556]
Minnizig: [600/20] => 30
Minnizig: [700/15] => 46
Beltarne: Crap, -2
Beltarne: Still a crit
GM: Okay, that hour doesn't count for Beltarne.
Beltarne: Hooray!
Minnizig: "I'd say hang onto it for the moment. We can dump it if we find something more portable."
Wolfgang: "Well, do we need some stuff to prove we searched the town?"
Minnizig: "It'll help, I'm sure."
GM: ST rolls to assist in Searching for the 2nd hour?
Wolfgang: "Lets at least take it out of the area"
Wolfgang: ST (16) [3d6.skill(16,0)] => [4,1,5] = 10 vs (16) or less Success! by 6
Beltarne: ((Is still busy concentrating and can't answer that question))
Minnizig: I think we can pile things up in the middle of the town, or just leave it where we found it and note it for later.
Thasos: ST (13) [3d6.skill(13,0)] => [4,2,3] = 9 vs (13) or less Success! by 4
Marik: Search! [3d6.skill(13,2)] => [3,3,5] = 11 vs (15) or less Success! by 4
Ghazeb: Search (10) [3d6.skill(10,2)] => [1,5,4] = 10 vs (12) or less Success! by 2
Minnizig: Default Search (8) [3d6.skill(13,-5)] => [1,4,1] = 6 vs (8) or less Success! by 2
Wolfgang: "We can use it to carry the other loot out of town"
GM: Marik finds a small silvered statue, weighs 0.5 lbs and worth $400.
** Wolfgang thinks that is a great find **
GM: Ghazeb finds a coin cache, $200 in copper and silver, weighing a lb.
GM: Minizig finds a large tome of Natural Philosophy, worth $200 and weighing 12 lbs.
GM: Hanging around for another hour?
Wolfgang: you forget the +2 minn?
GM: Its... roughly noonish.
Wolfgang: We should stay if we know about the crit
Beltarne: Oh yeah, she got success by 4
** Ghazeb votes for stay **
Beltarne: Well, really you'll know when we should leave by how tired I'm looking
Beltarne: And right now I look fine
Beltarne: What with the crit and all
Beltarne: Test?
GM: Okay, it that case Minnizig found a famous, rare tome worth $400 - it has a cover of skyshark leather.
GM: Roll it, Beltarne.
Beltarne: Will (14) [3d6.skill(14,+4-2)] => [5,4,3] = 12 vs (16) or less Success! by 4
Wolfgang: ST (16) [3d6.skill(16,0)] => [2,6,2] = 10 vs (16) or less Success! by 6
GM: Beltarne is beginning to sweat noticeably.
Thasos: ST (13) [3d6.skill(13,0)] => [5,5,1] = 11 vs (13) or less Success! by 2
GM: Minnizig, searching or moving stuff?
Ghazeb: Search (10) [3d6.skill(10,0)] => [4,3,3] = 10 vs (10) or less Success! by 0
Beltarne: Attacked by cat
Wolfgang: ((Ghazeb forgot the +2))
Minnizig: Searching
Minnizig: Default Search (8) [3d6.skill(13,-5)] => [2,4,2] = 8 vs (8) or less Success! by 0
Wolfgang: ((so did minn, again))
GM: Ghazeb finds a small stack of semi-precious stones, weighs 1/2 lb, worth $300.
Minnizig: Gah, again, yes.
Beltarne: And Marik
Wolfgang: come one big $$$!
Wolfgang: on!
GM: Minnizig finds an anvil, worth $200, weighs 60 lbs.
Wolfgang: no
Minnizig: I forgot the +2, again :P
GM: However, there isn't a forge key in it that she can find.
Ghazeb: "Nice find Minnizig."
Marik: Search: [3d6.skill(13,2)] => [6,5,3] = 14 vs (15) or less Success! by 1
** Wolfgang is not lugging an anvil **
Ghazeb: find*
Wolfgang: anyone gonna blow luck?
Marik: Luck!
Marik: Search: [3d6.skill(13,2)] => [5,2,6] = 13 vs (15) or less Success! by 2
Marik: Search: [3d6.skill(13,2)] => [5,6,6] = 17 vs (15) or less Critical Failure! by 2 [B556]
Beltarne: Jesus
Minnizig: Yeah, I'm gonna blow luck if I'm allowed.
Minnizig: Thought it was too late once the anvil was announced.
GM: Go for it, Minnizig.
Wolfgang: it's like it's a 14 or something this time!
GM: Sorry.
Minnizig: Default Search (8) [3d6.skill(13,-5+2)] => [4,5,1] = 10 vs (10) or less Success! by 0
Minnizig: Default Search (8) [3d6.skill(13,-5+2)] => [5,2,5] = 12 vs (10) or less Failure! by 2
Minnizig: Newp.
Beltarne: Okay, my next roll will be at 14, we stay for one more hour or leave?
Wolfgang: "Leave now, he looks tired"
GM: Marik finds an ornamented throwing knife, weighs 1 lb, worth $200.
Minnizig: mmm. I'm inclined to try it.
Ghazeb: Greed (15 or less) [3d6.skill(15,0)] => [4,3,5] = 12 vs (15) or less Success! by 3
Ghazeb: "maybe we should go"
Minnizig: Not totally married to the idea though.
Thasos: Resist Overconfidence (12-) [3d6.skill(12,0)] => [2,5,5] = 12 vs (12) or less Success! by 0
Wolfgang: "We can come back, why risk it?"
** Thasos nods. **
Minnizig: "Betcha five silver the Dwarf doesn't want to leave."
GM: Over a hundred of those strange creatures surround you, sometimes moving closer.
Beltarne: We leave, then
Minnizig: We're rolling Stealth now, I assume?
GM: Sure!
Marik: Stealth! [3d6.skill(15)] => [2,2,4] = 8 vs (15) or less Success! by 7
Minnizig: Stealth (13) [3d6.skill(13,0)] => [4,5,3] = 12 vs (13) or less Success! by 1
Wolfgang: only to sneak back in, we may want to just wait and try turning again
Thasos: Stealth (15) [3d6.skill(15,0)] => [5,1,4] = 10 vs (15) or less Success! by 5
Beltarne: Stealth (12) [3d6.skill(12,0)] => [1,6,4] = 11 vs (12) or less Success! by 1
Ghazeb: Stealth (15) [3d6.skill(15,0)] => [2,1,2] = 5 vs (15) or less Critical Success! by 10 [B556]
Ghazeb: ((Why did I just roll stealth?))
Wolfgang: ((you're all insane?))
Beltarne: ((To see how good we are at sneaking away))
GM: You guys sneak out of town easily.
Minnizig: Oh, thought we had to sneak out AND back.
Wolfgang: ((I thought were were walking out before the time was up?))
Wolfgang: I fly out in another direction to distract them
GM: Tell you what - I'm a little confused.
GM: You're out of town.
Thasos: lol
** Beltarne trails to a stop in his chant which was barely audible as the group left town **
Marik: One last sneaky search attempt [3d6.skill(13,-2)] => [4,6,4] = 14 vs (11) or less Failure! by 3
Beltarne: Your luck is tainting Marik
Beltarne: We want Kevin back
GM: Heh.
GM: Hang on a second.
Beltarne: "To answer your questions, the last Master Smith of Viddelbrahn fled here at the destruction of that great citadel, and presumably perished when it was overran by demons."
GM: Alright, around 11 am, you guys are on the remains of the old road, about an hour north of the ruined town.
Beltarne: "And all we need is my word that we searched the village thoroughly. The dwarven elders trust me."
Ghazeb: ((sory, what was my question again?))
Beltarne: Shall we set camp and rest, and try again tomorrow morning?
Minnizig: "I wanted to know what the heck was up with they key being here."
Thasos: what's our total take?
Wolfgang: "Aye, unless you feel recovered well before nightfall"
GM: What are you taking?
Beltarne: "It was carried by the last Master Smith, and since he presumably died here, the elders were hoping it was still here."
Beltarne: Everything but the anvil, I think.
Ghazeb: "Bet it is on one of them."
Wolfgang: yes, I think that was the plan
Wolfgang: "was it a magic key? could that help us find it?"
Beltarne: Unless a "Forge Key" is a dwarven euphemism for an anvil that I realize before we leave
Ghazeb: ((lol))
GM: Not that Beltarne is aware of.
Beltarne: "I don't know, friend gargoyle"
Ghazeb: ((Sorry guys door again))
Beltarne: "Given it's a human village, I assume it will be easily recognizable as the only thing of obviously dwarven make."
Minnizig: "It's smaller than a breadbox, unfortunately, which makes it easily covered up by ruins."
Wolfgang: "Obvious to you maybe"
Beltarne: Day 1 total, $2600, 50 lbs exactly
Wolfgang: or $2100 and 30 lbs
Minnizig: That's not bad. And we can exchange heavier items for lighter if we find lighter.
GM: Ghazeb is down to 6 meals; Marik 16; Wolfgang 21; Minnizig 10; and Thasos 41.
Wolfgang: "If all else fails we have a nice table for supper."
Beltarne: What, where did you get that, wolfgang?
Thasos: how about ritual components?
Minnizig: I presume Marik goes scrounging with what's left for the rest of the day.
Minnizig: As we were only busy for a few hours in town.
GM: It's like 1 pm. There's a lot of time left in the day.
Beltarne: Make that $2800 and 50 lbs
Wolfgang: does Beltarne need to rest a full night or can he just rest for an hour or two to get rid of the penalties?
Thasos: camping and trying again tomorrow is a real good idea
Beltarne: Ignoring the anvil
GM: Thasos has used 7 of his 10 days of ritual components.
GM: Full night's rest.
Wolfgang: unless we think we need to investigate the anvil, it stays there
Minnizig: [200/50] => 4
Minnizig: Yeah, not worth it.
Thasos: I'm assuming it was checked for being magical?
GM: Marik, Beltarne, and Minnizig didn't notice anything.
Minnizig: I have Magery, I think that happens automatically upon seeing it and again upon handling it.
Minnizig: Ditto Marik.
Beltarne: I say we stay the night, I give profusive thanks to Tyr, then hit the White Pines early tomorrow and head back to town, call it good for a delve
Minnizig: Not sure about Power Investiture, but I bet that works for "holy"
Minnizig: Sounds like a plan.
Wolfgang: "I find myself agreeing with Beltarne a lot today!"
whispering to Minnizig, White Pines is supposed to be a village in the mountains, not a small town on a lake.
Beltarne: "Good, I'm an agreeable fellow!"
Beltarne: ((Get it? Agreeable? Eh?!))
** Minnizig patpats Beltarne. **
whispering to Minnizig, You seem to recall that it is supposed to be surrounded by mountain peaks on all sides, only reachable by climbing through rugged passes.
GM: Minnizig has whispers.
Ghazeb: ((back))
Thasos: I'm going to meditate
Thasos: Meditation (9) [3d6.skill(9,0)] => [4,4,6] = 14 vs (9) or less Failure! by 5
Thasos: ffffFFFFFUUUUU
** Minnizig pokes at the campfire for a bit while Thasos meditates, obviously thinking. **
Beltarne: I'm gonna tell Tyr how awesome he is for like, 8 hours. If anyone else wants to sacrifice some of their food in thanks for not being ripped apart by demons, feel free.
** Thasos is too creeped out by the ghouls to concentrate. **
Minnizig: "Guys. I don't think that's White Pines."
Beltarne: "What?"
Beltarne: "Why not?"
Minnizig: "White Pines is supposed to be a village in the mountains, aye? Not a little town by a lake."
Thasos: "..."
Wolfgang: "Aren't we surrounded by mountains?"
Minnizig: "There's an old folksong about getting caught in the pass to White Pines in a snowstorm. This place is pretty open on the sides.
Minnizig: "
Ghazeb: "What, it is the wrong damn town?"
** Minnizig starts sketching in the dirt with her fire poking stick. **
Beltarne: "Aye, it was supposed to been in a valley in the Gray Mountains east of the southern end of the Storm Pass.
Wolfgang: "Hmm, we sure there isn't a pass near? How many towns can there be infested with demon things around anyhow?"
Ghazeb: "This is Thasos's fault, of that Ghazeb is sure."
** Thasos puts a hand over his face. **
** Thasos points at Ghazeb angrily. **
Beltarne: "The passes were all sealed after the demonic invasion"
Minnizig: "I think demons are like the plague. You get one place plague ridden, you get lots of places plague ridden."
Wolfgang: "Didn't we go through storm pass?"
Beltarne: "We did, so it's somewhere around here. Damn me for a fool."
Beltarne: "Well, we can load up on provisions and come back, and deal with the ghost like we had planned on as well."
Minnizig: "I think your church will want to know of this places fate, regardless. More centers of... whatever is going on here sounds dangerous."
Minnizig: "Weird dirt zombies."
Minnizig: "Bring holy water."
Beltarne: "To be honest I think they're less concerned about the fate of a human village than the forge key, but both they and the human churches would probably like to be kept in the loop regarding demonic infestations."
Wolfgang: "Marik, we east of the south end of storm pass here? I mean, this is a valley, maybe they just forgot about the lake."
Wolfgang: "Or their crappy pass blocking also blocked the water up"
Minnizig: "It could be under the lake then."
Beltarne: "we need to come back to deal with the ghost anyways, it'll be no big thing to swing east and skirt the mountains when we return. And there's the matter of that goblin map to investigate as well."
Wolfgang: "Or that could be it!"
Marik: Looks at the mountains and consults his maps. "We're southeast of the Storm Pass." He considers. "I may have seen the road forking a ways south of the goblin cave."
Wolfgang: "We can table a return until we get better directions"
Minnizig: "East of the South End, is not the same as South East."
Beltarne: "Currently we seem to be grasping in the dark. I'd feel a whole lot better getting some concrete info on what is where and returning with the supplies to properly investigate this area."
Marik: "I need to restock arrows."
Wolfgang: "It would be nice to risk being beaten up by dirt only after we are sure it's the right place."
Beltarne: "Exactly, and Thasos is low on his devotional supplies, and I think we'd all feel a lot better with a bath and a night on a honest to Tyr bed."
Minnizig: "I'm for going back to town, getting food, getting something to drag treasure, and asking a few pointed questions about demons and druids and freeking harpies."
Beltarne: "Right. Still hit the possessed village one more time in the morning to see if there's anything we missed?"
Ghazeb: "Ghazeb did find some nice cookware tho."
Minnizig: "Yes. It's a very nice pot. We might be able to sell it to a wealthy housewife worried about keeping up with the other housewives..."
Wolfgang: "we did seem to find some nice loot..."
Marik: "We're at least two days away from Polisberg, and I still want to check that door in the goblin cave."
Ghazeb: "2 days, thats all. Lets head back then."
Wolfgang: [3d6.skill(12,0)] => [2,2,5] = 9 vs (12) or less Success! by 3 greed
Beltarne: "If we're not going to get the bonus for searching White Pines, I still want to see if we can find anything else in that village. We can hit the Goblin Cave on the way home."
Ghazeb: "OK, that sounds good to Ghazeb."
Minnizig: "I do want to see what that wizard was packing behind that door. Presuming this is the key."
Wolfgang: "Aye, lets head back after another hour search."
Wolfgang: "Heh, assuming that's really it."
Minnizig: "If you feel up to it, I'm willing to make another pass and see if we find any more shinies."
Beltarne: "So, we're crashing here tonight hitting not-White Pines in the morning, then heading to the Goblin Cave, then Polisberg."
GM: You guys sneaking in? How doesn't have Stealth?
Wolfgang: we sneaking in tonight or using beltarne to repel them tomorrow?
GM: Or you're just waiting where you are overnight and trying again tomorrow?
Beltarne: Lets not try to sneak
Beltarne: No safety net if we get caught
Beltarne: We can recuperate tonight
Minnizig: Agreed.
Wolfgang: sounds good
Beltarne: "We'll start at dawn tomorrow, it'll just be a long day on the road"
Minnizig: "Good thing we can make an early night of it then."
GM: Alright, I'll figure out what happens to you while you wait over the next week and we'll pick up next week.
